Pérouges, Medieval City

Pérouges Medieval city is located in the departement of Ain on the east side of Lyon (35km), at the edge of the Dombes.

It is credited with no certainty that name came from a Roman colony Pérougia in Italy.

The main houses date back to 12th century. Prosperous economic period, thanks to a charter of privileges received from lords.

Perugia was populated by the medieval craftsmen, weavers and wine makers.
